Overview of Bukit Batok Neighbourhood
Bukit Batok, also known as “Bt Batok,” is a developed residential town and planning area situated along the eastern part of Singapore’s West Region. Statistically, it is ranked as the 12th most populous (102,000 residents) and 25th largest (11.13 km2) planning area in the country. It shares borders with 6 other planning areas, including Tengah in the west, Jurong East in the southwest, Bukit Timah in the southeast, Clementi in the south, Bukit Panjang in the east and northeast, and Choa Chu Kang in the northwest and north. Currently, Bukit Batok is divided into 9 different subzones, including Hong Kah North, Hillview, Guilin, Gombak, Bukit Batok West, Bukit Batok South, Bukit Batok East, Bukit Batok Central, and Brickworks. West Mall is the major shopping complex in the area, which has 8 stories and a total floor area of around 26,300 m2. It contains a post office, a library, a Cineplex, a supermarket, and multiple shops and restaurants. There are 2 MRT stations in Bukit Batok, including the Bukit Gombak and Bukit Batok. The nearby Bus Interchange also helps local residents commute and travel around the country. There are a total of 6 primary schools, 6 secondary schools, and 2 higher institutions.
